Pertarungan yang sengit antara Pasukan Pemerintah yang didukung dengan kekuatan milisi Syiah mewan para militant ISIS di Tkrit pada tahun 2015 lalu nyatanya membuat makam mantan pemimpin Irak Saddam Hussein nyaris tidak diketahui.

Namun, tidak ditemukannya jasad di sana. Tahun 2014 lalu warga Sunni setempat memindahkan jenazah Saddam Hussein ke lokasi yang dirahasiakan.

Pendudukan makam ini terjadi saat pertempuran terkonsentrasi di utara dan selatan Tikrit Minggu 15 Maret 2015, dimana pasukan Irak bersumpak akan menguasi kota dalam waktu 48 jam.

“Ini adalah area di mana militan ISIS berkumpul, karena makam Saddam ada di sini,” kata Kapten Yasser Nu’ma, pimpinan para milisi. “Militan ISIS berusaha menjebak kami dengan cara memasang ranjau bom.”

Pada Agustus 2014 lalu, ISIS mengatakan bahywa makam Saddam Hussein telah hancur. Namun, Pejabat setempat membantah informasi tersebut. Mausoleum tersebut hanya dirampok dan hanya mengalami kerusakan kecil.

Baru-baru ini, Publik dunia dihebohkan dengan beredarnya video di channel Youtube yang menampilkkan jenazah mantan presiden Irak Saddam Hussein masih utuh.

Padahal diketahui bahwa Saddam Husein tewas digantung lebih dari 12 tahun lalu yakni pada 30 Desember 2006. Di Pangkalan Militer AS di Kazimain, Baghdad.
